DIPLOMA PREPARATORY SCIENCE PROGRAMME
The Diploma Preparatory Science Programme is designed by UPMKB specifically to facilitate students with SPM qualifications or its equivalent, but does not meet the basic requirements of the diploma programmes in UPMKB.
It is designed to develop the students’ basic understanding in Science, Mathematics as well as English and Malay Languages. Upon successfully completing all the programme courses, the students will be qualified to take up Diploma Programmes in Agriculture, Forestry, Fishery, Food Estate Management, and Agribusiness.
The programme is managed by the Department of Basic Sciences and Engineering. Classes are held for two semesters at a total of 34 credit hours and comprise of lectures, laboratory sessions, tutorials, student-centered learning, assignments, and oral presentations.
Applicants who meet the University General Requirements and Specific Needs will be eligible for the Diploma Preparatory Programme.
UNIVERSITY GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:
Applicants must have a firm interest in the field of agriculture. They must meet the University General Requirement standards and possess the Malaysian Certificate of Education (MCE) or a certificate of an equivalent value, with a Grade C in three (3) subjects, including Malay Language.
SPECIFIC NEEDS REQUIREMENTS
Applicants must have a minimum credit of Grade C in any two (2) science subjects below:
(*Agrotechnology Studies / Landscape and Nursery / Food Crops / Machinery Workshop Technology / Crop Production / Livestock Production / Decoration Horticulture and Landscape / Plantation Engineering / Plantation Management). Applicants must also have at least a Grade E in Mathematics or Additional Mathematics and English Language. Shortlisted candidates will be called for a preliminary interview.
