Universiti Putra Malaysia Bintulu Sarawak Campus (UPMKB) and the Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industries and Performing Arts (MTCP) will be organising the second edition of the Islamic Arts Festival 2023 (iFest2023) at the university campus from 7 to 12 August.
UPMKB said the festival themed 'Islamic Arts Catalyst of National Wellbeing' will highlight several activities in the form of competitions such as khat writing competition, Quran recitation competition, storytelling competition, religious lecture competition, contemporary nasyid competition and archery competition.
In addition, he said, iFest2023 will also host the Forum Perdana scheduled for August 12 at 7.30 pm at the Sri Kenyalang Hall UPMKB.
"This Forum Perdana will feature great religious figures and motivational experts and familiar to Malaysia," he added.
He said, iFest2023 to encourage the community, especially the youths, to engage in healthy activities and thus to make a better personality.
"It also provides an opportunity for the community to showcase their talents through the competition," he said.
Hence, he said, iFest2023 is expected to promote Sarawak and Bintulu as a tourist destination as the participation is open to all including from foreign countries such as Indonesia and Brunei Darussalam.
