KUALA LUMPUR, February 28: Director of the International Symposium of Social Sciences, Management, Science & Technology (iRandau2023), Dr Yasmin Yaccob said, Universiti Putra Malaysia Bintulu Campus (UPMKB) is a show of unity in Malaysia which always celebrates the image of community diversity to the international level.
He said the symposium also strengthened human capital in line with ethnic research and social studies that focused on progress in various fields.
" iRandau Symposium 2023 can also help UPMKB to be closer to the community in Sarawak.
"Based on this concept, iRandau2023 is organized as a platform to share research and discoveries related to social sciences, economics, and management as well as science and technology.
Meanwhile, the Secretary General of the Ministry of Youth and Sports (KBS), YBhg. Ts. Dr. Nagulendran Kangayatkarasu said the support given by KBS and the International Youth Centre to the iRandau 2023 program is in line with IYC's goal of becoming the Regional Institute of Excellence Youth Development especially UNESCO.
"With this international symposium, it is a manifestation of support and solidarity to raise the gap of differences and social issues among the rural communities in Sarawak.
"The synergy between KBS and UPMKB can be strengthened through various social and youth development programs in the future," he said.
He hoped that the results of the various research presented in the symposium could be used by all participants in addressing the challenges of society in the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR).
At this symposium, 44 participants from all universities across Malaysia presented their findings related to the theme of empowering human capital in line with ethnic research and social studies.
Among the research presented at this symposium, the Management of Custom Leaders in Conserving the Culture of the Salako Society, Case studies of the exploration of the meaning of the symbol of simplyte and the ritual practices of the indigenous communities of Sematan, Lundu, Sarawak, and the perception of the use of information on smartphones by the rural community of Sarawak. - UPM
